Wash Away Your Troubles: Part Two

Bathrooms have evolved from functional spaces into a peaceful place to relax

02.10.2024

Bathrooms were once considered just a utility room – a place to get the job done.

But these days the bathroom is our personal sanctuary – the ultimate place to escape the hustle and bustle after a long day as well as where we go to start things off on the right foot in the morning.

Even bathrooms that are short on space are treated to lashings of luxurious fittings, fixtures and features. Consulting an expert pays dividends because a well-functioning and beautiful bathroom is all about the details.

DETAILS

Pay attention to the little things. Beautifully crafted drains, for example, make a space feel a heck of a lot more luxurious.

Hide anything that can be hidden, such as power points in cupboards. Create as much storage as possible. Clutter is not good for the psyche.

TEXTURE

If you want a space that you truly love, aim to get some texture in there.

Mixing up materials will do the trick nicely. Not everything has to match. Add visual appeal in the form of stunning feature lights, wallpapers, feature tiles or concrete basins.

GLASS

There’s a downside to loads of glass. Someone has to clean it and if it’s in the shower, it can get water stained.

But glass is also ethereal, so our advice is use it wisely. Consult an expert. If you can do a walk-in shower without any glass, go for it. If you need glass, get advice on how to treat it so cleaning isn’t a drama.
